About What Guides Us

Keystone Montessori School is based on the philosophy, teachings, and materials developed by Dr. Maria Montessori. Our environment is enriched by current research in child development, conflict resolution, and psychology. The Montessori experience provides content-rich curriculum; math, language, geography, Spanish, music, art, science, as well as essential process skills such as focus, independence, self-discipline, and self-esteem.

  • We believe parents are the most significant adults in a child’s life.

We strive to create a partnership with each family and a positive environment for each child. We are a learning environment for parents, their children, and a resource for the community.

  • We believe that a nurturing community supports the growth of each individual.

When children are a part of a supportive, success-oriented community, they learn to take responsibility for themselves as individuals and are sensitive to their own needs and those of others.

  • We believe that we are all part of a world community.

We strive to encourage our children to strengthen their own cultural identity as well as to understand the world’s diversity and to appreciate each individual’s strengths and differences.

  • We are committed to respect of our natural environment.

We believe our children are key players in the earth’s future. We strive to help children understand their part in the web of life and how they can help our earth’s threatened resources. We strive to encourage knowledge and respect for the earth and its creatures.

  • We believe the success of our program is in the dedication of our faculty and staff.

We support our teachers with the training, freedom, and resources to create the very best and unique learning environment for our children. We provide opportunities for each teacher to grow professionally to succeed.

  • We believe in positive discipline.

We establish consistent age-appropriate limits to help each child function in their world. Our programs are designed to provide each child with a sense of independence and responsibility.

  • We utilize the philosophy and materials developed by Dr. Maria Montessori.

These materials are designed to provide each child with successful learning experiences. The classroom activities develop concentration, coordination, independence, and a sense of order using carefully designed materials organized so children can progress through work of increasing complexity.
